Hello girls! Today I’ll be taking you through my journey of microblading for redheads. I’m sure many of you are following so many different girls and makeup artists on Instagram and YouTube, and there you might have noticed a rising trend in the semi-permanent makeup scene: microblading for redheads, blondes, and brunettes!
How Does Microblading Work for Redheads?
Basically, if you don’t know what is microblading – it’s a realistic tattoo for your eyebrows, and it is getting all the buzz and all the makeup artists are picking up on it! Depending on how you want your eyebrows to look, they create natural-looking hair strokes, filling techniques, and shading by directly applying pigment to the skin using a hand tool that looks like a makeup tool.
Truth be told, microblading will fade after a while – it is semi-permanent, and girls often think it is permanent because it is a tattoo and the procedure is somewhat similar, but the lines are much softer and feathery and the pigment does not penetrate deep enough to last forever.
Some girls say it can be painful to get microblading for redheads, especially since studies suggest redheads are less tolerant to pain, and this is true to some extent. When I had my redhead eyebrows microbladed, it felt like pinching or plucking even, I’m not going to lie, but nothing more than that. But don’t worry, ladies! During the procedure the makeup artist will put numbing cream to make the treatment more comfortable.
I have to also say this, my dear redheads, if you want a darker and warmer eyebrow color, you might need to do frequent touch-ups just because of how they fade compared to lighter shades. Think of maybe giving a brown with hints of red a shot. Those can look super cute and adorable too and will definitely last longer! Make sure you talk about that with your makeup artist!
Should A Redhead Microblade?
My advice would be to do your homework, ladies! Research, research, research! Your brows really shape your face and can make your beautiful eyes stand out. Decide on a microblading studio based on referrals, suggestions, Google reviews, social media posts – if they have a good portfolio or not, and the overall reputation of the makeup artist.
After doing some research and asking for recommendations online, I’ve made a list of different studios and artists, and I finally decided to call Shiraz, an artist with experience with microblading redhead eyebrows. Shiraz and I talked over the phone, and she was very friendly and kind; she was really patient and answered all the questions I had in a professional way, which in the end made me book an appointment.
That’s when Shiraz from Microblading-NYC and I discussed shape, proportion, and color for my redhead microblading. She gave me a couple of good suggestions and insights, and told me how Helen Mirren got more confident after having her eyebrows microbladed. It was super important to find and choose the right pigment for the microblading, especially for redheads like me.
I wanted to have fuller eyebrows every day so I don’t have to fill them in every morning I wake up. I was initially thinking of getting a darker shade to match my hair color, but Shiraz seeing how nervous I was suggested trying out a lighter color. That way I could always go darker if needed, so that was super helpful – and a tip I want to share with you girls!
At first, I was nervous because maybe I wouldn’t be happy with the result – even though she mapped out and showed me the shape before she started microblading. In retrospect, she did a fantastic job and delivered the perfect shape and thickness I wanted! I have never felt more happy about the way my brows look, and after getting my redhead eyebrows microbladed, I started recommending it to all of my girlfriends.
So, after getting the procedure done, it took around ten days for my eyebrows to heal and during that time they flaked a little bit. Nothing noticeable though! I had to keep my eyebrows dry – no sweating, exercise, and strenuous daily activities but I was so excited to do this and seeing the end result was stunning!
I still get emotional when I remember how much confidence I was missing. I was self-conscious about my thin eyebrows, and I didn’t like their shape – they were uneven, and I couldn’t get them to look the way I wanted them for years because I’m not that good with makeup. In the end, that’s what made me take action and do something about it – and here I am! Super, super happy, I feel much more playful and confident now that my redhead eyebrows are microbladed.
